Inspired by Excellence: Reflections from the CUB Sydney Event

Some mornings leave you inspired and today was certainly one of them.

Freddy Mikhael with Australian tennis legend Mark Philippoussis at the CUB Sydney business networking event.

Thank you to our CUB Sydney team for hosting such a wonderful event at the stunning CUB Sydney premises. It was a fantastic morning that brought together great people, meaningful conversations and an incredibly inspiring guest speaker.

A special thank you also to Daniel Hakim, Founder & CEO of CUB, for hosting such an engaging and insightful conversation with Australian tennis legend and former World No. 8 Mark Philippoussis. It was a real privilege to listen to Mark share his journey.

What stood out to me most was his story about walking onto Centre Court at Wimbledon for the first time. He spoke openly about how overwhelming the moment was, how the occasion almost made him forget the game plan, and the valuable lesson to learn: don’t become consumed by your opponent or the occasion and focus on your own game, trust your preparation and simply give your very best.

A powerful reminder that applies just as much in business and in life as it does in professional sport.

It was also fantastic to meet the team from Tennis Australia, who showcased the incredible personalised experiences available at the Australian Open. From premium hospitality and reserved seating to exclusive behind-the-scenes access and courtside experiences, they truly offer once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for tennis fans.

I also couldn’t resist taking a photo with two of Australia’s most iconic sporting trophies, the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup, awarded to the Australian Open Men’s Singles Champion, and the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup, presented to the Women’s Singles Champion.

Thank you once again to the entire CUB team for organising such an engaging and memorable event. It was a morning that left everyone in attendance feeling inspired and reminded us that, whether in sport or business, success comes from trusting your preparation, staying focused on your own game, and always striving to be your best.
