Fremantle is often associated with Perth, but it’s actually a city on it’s own. Hanging on the Western edge of Australia, this area is worth a visit while in Perth. Usually not a popular item on vacation itineraries, the Fremantle prison will make an interesting stop over. The prison officially closed in 1991 and has since been World Heritage listed. It’s now a museum and art galley for visitors to enjoy and learn. If you are the adventurous type, try crawling though the haunted tunnels. Fremantle also provides other attractions including other museums and galleries, whale watching, and more beautiful beaches. Should you want to spend more time here, checkout their cute boutique shops or the Fremantle Market for a variety of souvenirs and other trinkets. Before you leave this area, you must experience the fabulous seafood available. Fremantle lays claim to the best seafood restaurants in Australia. After you’re done eating, try to catch one of the street performances that occur on any given night of the week.
